Frequently Asked Questions
Q. I have no water, what should I do?
A. First, check the power source (fuse box / circuit breaker box) to see if a fuse is blown or a breaker is tripped. If it is, simply replace the fuse or reset the breaker. If this does not solve the problem, or if this problem continues to occur, please give us a call at (401) 231-3402 so that we may further assist you.
Q. I am building a new home and have a choice between City Water and a Water Well. What are the advantages of a Water Well?
- The installation of a water well is considerably less expensive then tying into city water. Considering the cost of tying into city water, it can be up to 50% less expensive to drill a well then to tie into city water.
- Also, since well owners don't get water bills each quarter, they can continue to save even more.
- Water wells are exempt from water bans and other municipal water use restrictions. Well owners can use their water outdoors (and/or run their sprinkler system) at any time and for any purpose.
- Natural springs in the ground = better quality water. We have had a number of customers tell us that their well water tastes a lot like Poland Spring ®
Q. What Steps Should I Take When Deciding to Choose a Well Contractor?
A. Please see our Consumer Information page for detailed information on Choosing a Well Contractor.
Q. How Often Should I Have My Water Tested? What Should I Test For?
A. The Rhode Island Department of Health recommends having your water tested once a year for Chloride, Coliform Bacteria, Color, Sodium, and Turbidity. Click Here for more information on water testing in Rhode Island.
In Massachusetts, water testing regulations are established by the Board of Health for the city or town where the well is located. Because almost every city and town in the Commonwealth has different regulations regarding water testing, you should contact the Board of Health in the city or town where the well is located to learn what tests are recommended or required.
